Canlı performansını yıllardır görmek istediğim Marilyn Manson'ın "Headliner" olduğu festival'in sanatçı listesinde sadece Booka Shade, CSS, SCSI 9 ve Juliette&The Licks'i görmek bile bir kaç dakika boyunca sevinç çığlıkları atmama neden oldu :)

30 Haziran - 2 Temmuz tarihleri arasında İstanbul solar Beach'te gerçekleşecek olan festival bence, daha önce 50 Cents gibi isimleri Headliner diye yutturmaya çalışan organizasyonlarla kıyaslandığında Dinamo 103.8'in organizasyonu olan RadarLive , (Bence) şimdiye kadarki en iyi line-up'la dinleyici karşısına çıkan, gerçek bir festival olacak gibi görünüyor.

Trevor Loveys & Rose & Belsey - The Source

Trevor started recording in the early 1990's after being inspired listening to producers such as Ron Trent, Abacus, Blaze and Masters At Work. He taught himself keyboards and drum programming after buying a synth and Akai sampler and after spending a year developing his sound and production skills he released his first single, 'Soul Motive' on Nuphonic Recordings. This release caught the attention of producers and music press alike, gaining respect from Deep Dish, Kevin Mckay and Everything But The Girl's Ben Watt.

House Of 909 is the production outfit Trevor is best known for and it was on this label that he released all his early productions such as ‘Deep Inside/Voices From Beyond,’ ‘Future Soul Orchestra/Up and Above’ and In To Deep. Trevor's music caught the attention of Richard Breeden the man behind the legendary Tribal label and now Pagan UK and It was this label that gave Trevor the chance to record his first album 'The Children We Were'. It was this album that put House Of 909 on the deep house map attaining album of the Month in Muzik and DJ not to mention features in NME, Music Week and iD.

In 1998 after having some personal and creative differences with his partner Nigel Casey, Trevor decided to go solo and started producing for his friend Omid 16B's label Alola. It was then that he started to collaborate with his bass playing friend Chris Pedley to create the album 'Era' which crossed the boundaries from deep house and electro to broken beat and downtempo. ‘Era' was album of the month in Ministry Magazine.

In 2002 Trevor signed to Freerange and has since released singles ‘Elevate Your Mind’ , ‘Feel the Horns’ , Lotta Livin’ and the acclaimed ‘The Bounce’ as well his debut album for Freerange entitled ‘Intstella’ in Summer 2004.

Aside from his solo project he teamed up with West London’s Solid Groove to form Switch. Their debut release ‘Get Your Dub On’ on Freerange was one of those rare records that twelve months after release was still being played nationwide. The studio partnership of producers, remixers and live act Booka Shade aka Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier has come a very long way since its incarnation in the early 90s. Back then, Arno and Walter were a synth pop act signed to a major label. They released two albums and did a number of tours, but at the same time they were being seduced by the emerging trance and techno sounds they heard in Frankfurt clubs like The Omen.

Subsequently, Arno and Walter changed their focus to club projects and released trance records on R&S, Tommy Boy and Sven Vath’s Harthouse imprint. However, it was on Dutch label that Booka Shade scored their biggest releases with the progressive ´Kind of good´ and ´Silk´.

By the end of the 90s, Booka Shade had tired of the trance-techno scene and again needed a new direction to focus on. At this stage, they decided to found their own label. By chance, they met with Thomas Koch, aka DJ T, one of Germany’s most experienced DJs. Arno and Walter’s old friends Patrick Bodmer and Philipp Jung, aka M.A.N.D.Y., whom they knew from the 90s in Frankfurt’s club scene, completed the new partnership.

By 2002, the Get Physical label was launched, with Booka Shade responsible for all of the productions and remixes by M.A.N.D.Y., DJ T., Sunsetpeople and Chelonis R. Jones. In just a few years, the label won supporters from a wide spectrum of DJs because its releases covered a broad brush stroke of electronic styles, including trance, electro and techno, within its club-friendly grooves.

In 2004, with Get Physical established as one of Europe’s most respected new electronic music labels, Booka Shade decided to step from the shadows and pursue their own solo career again.

Get Physical was home to Booka Shade’s widely acclaimed and admired 2005 debut album ‘Memento’, which saw Walter and Arno use the experience that they had gained working in the pop and trance spheres during the 90s to stunning effect. Slivers of pop melody and shiny trance euphoria are underpinned with twitchy, stripped bare beats. The end result was an ultra-modern, occasionally menacing and evocative but always rewarding work.

The label was also the outlet for their huge 2005 club hit, ‘Mandarine Girl’ and ‘Body Language’ - both firm favourites in their live show - with the latter track, a collaboration with M.A.N.D.Y, winning the DJ award ‘Ibiza Track of the Season 2005’ and gaining support from big league DJs as well as underground house and techno names.

Claude Vonstroke and his releases (from his own label Dirty Bird) were the best things happened to House scene in 2006. Not just because Richie Hawtin declared his magnificent track "Who's Afraid Of Detroit" as "The best track of 2006" nor it has been played by almost every genre of dance music dj across the board. It was his year because he brought something totally different with his almost unique musical style which is called as Tech-Funk by some while I'd rather call it as the brilliant mixture of House, Techno and Electro.

”I would like to come over…what are you having for dinner?” asks the creepy character in Claude VonStroke's international hit, “Deep Throat.” After selling through 7 pressings and topping the charts in Germany , Belgium and Italy ; “Deep Throat” quickly put VonStroke on the map as an up and coming force. The success of the single garnered a music video by Anthony Earnest Garth, whose past directorial credits include videos for super-groups like the White Stripes, Eminem, and Slum Village . (The “Deep Throat” video will be released as a bonus feature on Claude's new dirtybird artist album coming out this May, 2006.) Following the success of “Deep Throat,” Claude VonStroke upped the ante even further with a full length album called "Beware of the Bird."

Claude VonStroke is better known to locals, as Barclay Crenshaw, the owner of San Francisco 's hottest new avant-house label, dirtybird. The dirtybird label consists of Crenshaw (VonStroke,) fellow producer Justin Martin, and a wide assortment of top remixers from around the globe such as John Tejada, Sammy D, Jesse Rose, and Frankie.

"In 2005, dirtybird released a series of daring and creative singles that were played by everyone from Ritchie Hawtin to Damian Lazarus and received top marks from all the DJ magazines."

The idea for dirtybird began in 2003 when Barclay was producing an intense 5 hour DVD about electronic music called, “Intellect.” San Francisco newcomer, Justin Martin was hired by Crenshaw to help make house music for the DVD. Barclay quickly recognized Justin's talent and took on a role as his manager, negotiating his first deals with Buzzin'fly, Classic, and Utensil Recordings. The “Intellect” project was a labor of love for Crenshaw, taking almost 2 years to make and starring over 35 top producers and legendary DJs such as Derrick May, Swayzak, Derrick Carter, Deep Dish, Paul Van Dyk, Theo Parish, and many more. The main goal of the “Intellect” project was to make an informative dvd that could help DJs advance their careers in electronic music. The result was Crenshaw himself starting dirtybird records with Justin and a production career under the quirky alias, Claude VonStroke.

In addition to production and label management, Claude VonStroke has an intense regimen for preparation and a great ear for song selection. His DJ sets are always inspiring and surprising. You will never hear a boring bunch of monotonous tracks because just like A&R at dirtybird, Claude always takes time to find the tracks that mean something. Tricky sound effects, nasty bass, inspiring melodies, and up front originals make for a completely original experience that is not to be missed.

Fuckpony's debut album Children of Love is one of the best house albums came out lately and their release note tells everything about it pretty well;

Fuckpony is the latest project by US producer in Berlin Jay Haze and Samim, his Swiss collaborator and it's going to you on a ride through the roots of dance music, so hold on tight! Haze and Samim are best known for their stripped back, quirky techno on Haze's Contexterrior and Tuning Spork labels, but for Fuckpony, they wanted to try something different.

The fruits of this project is 'Children Of Love', an album inspired by dance music's evocative, emotional past. Detroit techno snuggles up to deep house textures, Chicago claps and drums get cosy with raw acid lines, mournful synths accompany soulful, tripped out vocals."We're in an era of robots and machines, so we're trying to step back in time and go back to dance music's roots," Jay explains. "There is a whole new generation out there who have no idea about old school techno and house, and we want them to discover where electronic music came from," Samim agrees.

The album is richly musical, strangely familiar and undoubtedly infectious - it's impossible to dislodge the hooks from recent single 'Ride The Pony' or 'Cellphone Hit' from that part of your brain that keeps flashing 'tune' â€“ but it also boasts the futuristic techno brush strokes that we've come to expect from Haze and Samim. "We have our ears on the future, but the real inspiration is old house music," Jay says, while Samim sees the release as a break from the norm. "It's like a retreat, a holiday from making minimal music. Parts of it are minimal, but Fuckpony allows us to show something different of ourselves."

'Children Of Love' isn't solely about house music: listen to the nagging bass on the deep fried acid of 'Freaky Story Of Earth' and it's clear that Funkedelic's psychedelic groove left a big impression on the pair. "You could play this music to fucked up people at an after party or you could listen to it at home." Jay says. "We'd love to perform it live at Body & Soul in New York. It may sound superficial, but we believe in the power of love and its power to bring people together." Fuckpony's need to reach out could be due to Jay and Samim's troubled pasts. Samim, of Iranian descent, was a dotcom entrepreneur who lost a lot of money when the bubble burst and more recently, he overcame cancer.

Jay, meanwhile, comes from a poor part of Pennsylvania, 'where no one escaped from'. On his journey to Berlin, he sold LSD while touring with The Grateful Dead, became a respected glass blower and sculptor and even ended up living homeless on the streets of San Francisco for a few months before he ran into Samim as he backpacked across Europe. "I was walking around Zurich looking to buy some weed and by chance I asked Samim and his friends. Next thing I know, we're off having a beer together and I end up staying there for three months," Jay recalls.

Featuring vocals from Big Bully, Shaniqua and Lil Dirrty Ghetto Bastard, Jay and Samim believe that they have crated something that is not just 'tracky and for the dance floor', but a lasting body of work that their friends and family can appreciate. "We just hope that people feel it's great music. One of the biggest mistakes that people make about me is that I'm serious, but nothing could be further from the truth. All my music is done with a smile because that's how I interact with people and build relationships," Jay explains.

Deep, funky with smooth mellow beats over perfect lyrics and it's totaly addictive! These are the few keywords to describe my favorite album at the moment: Electronic Music From The Swedish Left Coast by Plej. Although entire album is great, specially "Blue" and "You" are just fantastic tracks and already in my all time favorites list. definitely I'm gonna play these in my next mix.Like one of their fans said on their myspace page;

The name Plej was originally created for the record label of Swedish siblings Arvid and Ertik Niklasson. But as their studio antics progressed, they decided that making music was more fun than selling it - and adopted the name as a production moniker. The hazy, black and white images of forests and mountains that adorn the cover of their debut LP Electronic Music From The Swedish Leftcoast seem to somehow suit the wobbly, wistful semantics of their nom-de-disque, hinting simultaneously at the dreamily organic contents that lie within.

Plej's previous output hasn't been abundant but it has been frighteningly consistent. Anyone who has laid ears on their Shimmer and Sky series EPs or their recent "You" track will know already their penchant for creating naturally unfurling deep house which occasionally dips into more experimental micro-house territory - a style they endearingly refer to it as small house.

For those that haven't yet been seduced by the duo's velvety caresses, this album is as good a place as any to get acquainted. Opening cut "Lay Of The Land" immediately offers an example of how they like to infuse their studio beats with a sense of outdoorsy lushness, glazing their 4-4 chugs with delicate layers of coruscating synths and not a little magical moonlight.

The LP unwinds in a similarly rustic manner. The smudged, glacial "Blue", the trumpet-enhanced "Seasons" (the first single from the LP), the insouciant harmonies on "Song", the shimmering disco tendrils of "Jabo's Night Out" and the soft-as-snowflake funk of "Shimmer", all conjure up unashamed feelings of well-being and optimism and make for a thoroughly addictive record.

"Soulset" and "A Jabo Thought" provide the obligatory downtempo moments, but really this LP is about moving club sounds into arenas of experimentation and sexiness. Lying somewhere between the whispered grooves of Herbert, the quirkiness of Isolee and the lush depth of Naked Music, it's the sound of deep house getting its kit off and running joyously through the hills.

This band rocks! Period. Their video "Let's Make Love and Listen to Death From Above" has been rolling on one of the local music televisions for awhile. Finally I downloaded the track today and played it over and over and over. I just loved thier sub pop music with elements like funk, electronica, rock and even dance which can be called electro-rock!

I couldn't listen to their self titled debut album yet but I'm sure rest of the album is just fine like the first single. Here is what sub pop website said

I was really excited when I first listen Robert Burian's fantastic deep house piece "Esplendor" on Soultonic Mono Launch Sampler and I thought "Oh here comes another Timewriter" but my excitement faded as soon as I find his website and read his welcoming message.

"I am starting to make different styles of music. My home production is and forever will be "TRANCE" and this style I am producing at project name "BuRo" , other style I produce is called "progressive" where you can find also some new releases under project name "Rob B" and the third and the last style is "deep funky vocal house" which I present under my real name "Robert Burian" there will be also releases in this style, so stay tuned and check for updates..."

According to me,he should focus all of his energy on Deep House productions since he came with such an amazing track like "Esplendor". I quess his interests on Trance music is related with his age I hope he'll find the right way when he gets a little bit older. :-)

Robert Burian was born in a small town with the name Nitra in Slovak Republic which is situated about 100 kilometers from capital city Bratislava. At early age he started to be interessted in music. He started piano lesson and kept them for two years.At this time he is studying and producing trance and house tunes, so and from this you can see that main hobby in his life is music. He has started producing trance music about 10 years ago and while this years he haslistened to different styles of music, but he prefer trance music and he has learnt much about this style. He has caught many important informations, read many books and at this time he has signed stuff with many labels and he has big support from big names.

Ok, some of you might roll your eyes when you see a Madonna post on a deep house blog but please don't :-) As a former Madonna Fan I've been hungry for her Deep House Mixes for years. Let alone the deep house mixes it's really hard to find quality house mixes of Madonna Tracks except few mixes from Vasquez and Masters at Work back in the beginning of 90's. I don't know why but she insists on releasing Trancey productions instead of something smooth and soulful whenever she comes up with new material. So I decided to do some simple house bootlegs and came up with 2 mixes. I wasn't planning to post'em but after I realized that she added Erotica/Thrill Me to playlist of her latest confessions tour I thought it's the right time.

well, speaking of Asad Rizvi, He and Kester Lyddon teamed up and released another great 3 track 12" variying from Tech house to Acid House. Asad's Disco-funkin' "Duality" on the A-side is not the Asad we know but yet pure fun! Nice deep touch with that tasty Rhodes, plus some quirk to boot. Flipside sees Asad with Kester Lyddon for the spacey acid-tinged Killer Loop remix of 'In My Sky', plus a wicked funk Instrumental Edit.

I've been waiting Williams and Lewis to come together again and release some stuff since their amazing track "Keys To City (Dees Dub)" got into my all time favorites list last year. "Keys To City" is one of the most uplifting deep house track ever. I saw a 140 kg totaly stoned man got up and danced to it as soon as I play it and I thought "yeah, this record has some side effects" For those of you who doesn't know what it is to be fat and stoned, let me tell you that its fucking hard to move.

On june 16 2006 Capture US records released Boo williams / Demarkus Lewis' New "The Peak Hour" Ep which is nice and warm, carrying vocals, bionic pulses/beeps and synths with a rolling - catchy- bassline. Vey nice track again, thumbs up!

I think I have to confess that I just can't help buying anything with retro feeling . This minimal beauty; reduced, simple, clean and convincing is just A-Must-Have and I had it. Plus I bought the last one in Adidas Originals store in Istanbul almost 30 Euros cheaper than the ones in german concept stores on the internet. Thus, now I adore it :-) Finally, it's nice to have cool things in istanbul and more and more are coming. Now it's even possible to buy limited edition legendary onitsuka tiger sneakers! Hurray!

When I listened installation artists Gonzales & Russom's "Relevee (DFA Mix)" on their double 12" "Relevee" released from DFA Records UK last week, first I thought "yeah it's absolutely a Hot Shot Debut!".

With it's very nice intro, dreamy vocals and amazing disco/electro feeling, Down Tempo "Relevee (DFA Mix)" is one the best tunes I've listened in past few weeks. After millions(!) of replay I decided to dig a little bit deeper for getting more from Gonzales & Russom but I end up in dissapointment.

Unfortunately "Relevee" single is full of weak remixes from Carl Craig and Baby Ford. Well, it's way too much experimental for me and "Relevee (DFA Mix)"is shining like a star among the others. Thumbs up!

On May 9 Nitegrooves US released Ananda Project's new 12", "Suite Dreams" with supporting remixes from one of my all time favorites The Timewriter and we'll take an extreme close up look on Chris Brann who is the talent behind this project as well as so many other personal Garage/House projects such as Ananda Project, Feral, P'Taah, P'tang, Relight, Santal, Wam Kidz, Wambonix, Wamdue, Wamdue Productions, Wamdue Project and groups; Delilah, Jackass & Mule, Wamdue Kids so far.Although it seems like Chris is having a personality crisis, the truth is, he achieved pretty distinctive works under those aliases.

Ananda Project feat. Terrance Down - Falling For You
(G-Pal's Child Of the Sun Remix)

Growing up in Atlanta, Chris discovered house and electronic music by the somewhat long-winded way of getting sent tapes from Europe. He began assembling a home studio but it wasn't until 1994 that he began his music career in earnest and formed Wamdue Kids with DJs Deep C, aka Chris Clarke, and Udoh, aka Chris Udoh. In 1995 they released the classic 'Higher' on the Acacia label, which led to the seminal debut album 'These Branching Moments'. In 1996 Chris' prolific attitude to work came into its own solo album 'Deep Fall', reflecting a diverse direction to that of his productions with Wamdue.

Chris started The Ananda project in late 90s and it was a side project in the beginning. Brann never set out to make the Ananda Project the crown jewel of his musical legacy. When the outfit began in 1998 - inspired through a chance meeting with Lancelot and Bryan of King Street Sounds and Nite Grooves labels. So, Ananda Project's amazing first single "Cascades Of Color" with singer/songwriter Gaelle Adisson came. it was massive for house music addicts, "indeed sounded like a sunrise; an illuminating and rejuvenating orchestration of deep, soulful house, punctuated by Brann's understated melodichues and Gaelle Adisson's angelic, honey-coated harmonies."

It didn't take long time for Mother(Danny Tenaglia) to find this secret weapon because "Cascades Of Color" was really distinctive from any other house production of its day. John Digweed, Deep Dish and Pete Tong followed him but it was Tenaglia's edit of "Cascades Of Color-Saffron mix" which made it a big smash. "Cascades Of Color" released 8 times (As different remixes on 12"s and a 5" CD) between 1998 and 2004. After tremendous demand from house scene, following Ananda project single "Straight Magic" came in 1999 and after that Ananda Project released 3 more Garage/House records (" Glory Glory", "Release" and "Bahia/Expand your Mind"), for me, none of them was as big as "Cascades Of Color" but in 2001 Nite Grooves released the amazing 12" of "Falling For You" featuring angelic vocals of Terrance Down which eventually became one of my all time favorites especially with the support of dreamy bassline and drums of G-Pal's "Child Of The Sun Remix" of the score.

Yet, that was not the time that my appreciation for Chris Brann (and for his all other names) hits the top but it was when I first listen to Delilah's "Be Strong 4 me" relesead by Yoshitoshi (ah! it was such a nice label back in the beginning of 2000s, what the heck happened?). Both original 12" and remixes were fantastic! When I hear the first words of Heather Johnson, I realized Chris Brann raised the standards of Vocal House music and no one's gonna buy those cheesy tracks with meaninglessly screaming female vocals as easily as before. But they did anyway :-)

America is full of contradictions: it is the ‘land of the free’, but its civil liberties, as we know from Guantanamo Bay, are laughably insecure. New York is billed as ‘the city that never sleeps’, but in the last few years a war on nightlife has led to the closure of tens of the city’s nightclubs and bars.

Clubbers are vilified by the media, and in 2002 the Senate tried to pass the infamous Reducing Americans’ Vulnerability to Ecstasy Act (or R.A.V.E. Act), which if it had become law, made landowners responsible for their patrons drug use.

But now Chicago’s local authorities have given the thumbs up to the city’s first ever house music festival. Illinois’ Department of Economic Development and the Bureau of Tourism are supporting Move!, a two-day international house music festival which takes place for the first time this year on 22nd and 23rd July.

Move! will feature some of the world’s most famous house music DJs such as Danny Tenaglia, Frankie Knuckles, David Morales and Steve Hurley as well as celebrate the city’s long and fruitful history with the genre. Unbelievably this is the first time that the city has organised a house music event of this kind.

House music is a collection of styles of electronic dance music, the earliest forms of which originated in the United States in the early- to mid-1980s. The name is said to derive from the Warehouse nightclub in Chicago, where the resident DJ, Frankie Knuckles, mixed classic disco and European synthpop recordings. Club regulars referred to his selection of music as "house" music. However, since Frankie was not creating new music at that time, it has been argued that Chip E. in his early recording "It's House" defined this new form of electronic music and gave it the name "House Music".

The common element of most house music is a 4/4 beat (a prominent kick drum on every beat) generated by a drum machine or other electronic means (such as a sampler), together with a continuous, repeating (usually also electronically generated) bassline. Typically added to this foundation are electronically generated sounds and samples of music such as jazz, blues and synth pop, as well as additional percussion.

House music is uptempo music for dancing and has a comparatively narrow tempo range, generally falling between 118 beats per minute (bpm) and 135 bpm, with 127 bpm being about average since 1996.Far and away the most important element of the house drumbeat is the (usually very strong, synthesized, and heavily equalized) kick drum pounding on every quarter note of the 4/4 bar, often having a "dropping" effect on the dancefloor. Commonly this is augmented by various kick fills and extended dropouts (aka breakdowns). Add to this basic kick pattern hihats on the eighth-note offbeats (though any number of sixteenth-note patterns are also very common) and a snare drum and/or clap on beats 2 and 4 of every bar, and you have the basic framework of the house drumbeat.

This pattern is derived from so-called "four-on-the-floor" dance drumbeats of the 1960s and especially the 1970's disco drummers. Due to the way house music was developed by DJs mixing records together, producers commonly layer sampled drum sounds to achieve a larger-than-life sound, filling out the audio spectrum and tailoring the mix for large club sound systems.Techno and trance, the two primary dance music genres that developed alongside house music in the mid 1980s and early 1990s respectively, can share this basic beat infrastructure, but usually eschew house's live-music-influenced feel and black or Latin music influences in favor of more synthetic sound sources and approach. As new recordings adhering to this general style emerged, The house genre divided into a number of subcategories and one of them is probably the reason you are here: Deep House Style.

Deep house is a style of house music. It is loosely defined by the following characteristics that distinguish it from most other forms of house music:

- relatively slow tempo (110-125 bpm);
- de-emphasized percussion, including:
simpler drum machine programming;
gentle transitions and fewer "build-ups";
less "thumpy" bass drum sound;
less pronounced hi-hats on the off-beat;
- sustained chords or other tonal elements that span multiple bars;
- increased use of reverb, delay, and filter effects;
- a featured solo R&B vocalist, often male, exhibiting soul, jazz, and/or gospel influences;
- jazz influences or samples in the instrumentation.

Not all of these need to be present or fully satisfied in order for house music to be called "deep house"; fans of the style typically just identify it by its subjective "feel" rather than by the presence or absence of specific elements. The term "deep house" first appeared in the music press in the late 1980s, usually in reference to the music of Larry Heard.

I've been listening this Inland Knights remix over and over during last week which made me focus on this duo. Shame on me that the track is from 2005. Anyway this one may be an amazing opening title for a mix. Under the Inland Knights moniker the pair have been fruitful, releasing tracks on labels such as Ralph Lawson's famed 20:20 Vision imprint, Panhandle Records, Vista, Siesta, Sunflower, NRK, Low Pressings, double down and many more. Their blend of jazz and funk, dynamic percussion and vocal hooks has been instrumental in catapulting the Inland Knights to international popularity. Their DJ sets are a fusion encompassing most styles of house, from dubby deep house, disco and garage to four-to-the-floor tech house.
Now into 2006, Inland knights will be concentrating on a two part ep to mark
the 50th Drop release. This will be coming out towards the autumn and
feature loads of new tracks plus maybe one from the vaults, and be released
as a part one and part two ep package. An ep for San Francisco’s Amenti is
also on the cards.Despite their success as producers,and over eight years of releases under their belts, they refuse to withdraw into the studio and will continue to DJ and tour extensively. Riley notes they are always looking to balance their performance and production schedules. "If you start to do too much of one,"
he says, "You start to miss the other."

Audio Soul Project is back again with Brigue Rouge France's "Jack The Beatbox". Although I'm getting sick about electro samples hacking into Tech house records, this one is tasty! On the other hand it's such a pleasure that seeing all of those House producers jumped into electro madness in last few years are coming back to their roots again. Briefly, house beats are IN again. Ok, I have to admit that reasonable amout of electro feeling is just nice and establishs diversity especially in a mix but hey guys please don't overdose it, One Trentemoller is just enough and He's doing his job perfectly.

although it seems like people at the Soulmagic label have lack of imagination and creativity for naming, I really liked the first release of this one. Probably it's because of the smooth vocals. There is nothing THAT special about this one but although Funky/Vocal/Club House is the genre with the most new releases every week it's so hard to find even a single nice record to pick and highlight unless you are spinning in a beach club in aegean coasts of Turkey and you are looking for some disturbingly screaming female vocals with brain damager snare drums before so called build ups for playing between this summer's Hot Turkish hits.

So I picked this one one. Deserves a shot.

The French-born NYC resident can be considered one of Larry Levan's disciples and therefore one of the forefathers of house music. If you are into house music and even for a little period of time you turned your face to New York City, checking out what's hot and what's not in the scene, you probably know mr Kevorkian since he permanently stamped his name on House Music history.

Probably it will be in vain talking about his long biography and prelude records, paradise garage, Violator remixes for Depeche Mode, His Tour mate larry Levan and so on, instead I'd like to focus on what he's doing right now for his new weekly Monday night event in New York City called Deep Space which really interesting. Bad news for house lovers but His career as an artist did not stop evolving, as he rekindled his interest for a more electronic sound, and the release of his Sonar Music set in 2002 marked a turning point; he started playing a much edgier and futuristic style, with more to do with Techno and Dub than the House sound he was mostly identified with as a DJ until that time. it was such a turning point that he also started touring along with Detroit Techno legend Derrick May, playing sets together as the 'Cosmic Twins'. His recent appearances at Berlin's Tresor, Manchester's Sankey's Soap and London's Fabric have helped gain him many younger fans that may not have been aware of his previous work.

In these days kevorkian focuses on Dub in all of its forms, and where the format is extremely eclectic, ranging from spaced-out Techno to the deepest Reggae, Hip-Hop as well as Drum& Bass, House and Disco.

This Deep and Funky House set from summer of 2005 named after iz&diz's amazing "Love Vibe" starts as deep as it can be with The Timewriter's "Deliver Me" and builds up until it gets funky with Boo Williams & Demarkus Lewis' masterpiece (one of my all time favorites), "Keys To City (Dees Dub)"

All tracks in this set vividly reminds me warm, brezzy days with the azure sky of deepest summer, lying down, doing nothing and maybe a joint or two. Since another beautiful summer is coming onto istanbul's skies maybe it's time to bring it up again from the seasonal mp3 archive. On the other hand it's such a pleasure that seeing all of those House producers jumped into electro madness in last few years are coming back to their roots again. Briefly, house beats are IN again. Ok, I have to admit that reasonable amout of electro feeling is just nice and establishs diversity especially in a mix but hey guys please don't overdose it, One Trentemoller is just enough and He's doing his job perfectly.

although it seems like people at the Soulmagic label have lack of imagination and creativity for naming, I really liked the first release of this one. Probably it's because of the smooth vocals. There is nothing THAT special about this one but although Funky/Vocal/Club House is the genre with the most new releases every week it's so hard to find even a single nice record to pick and highlight unless you are spinning in a beach club in aegean coasts of Turkey and you are looking for some disturbingly screaming female vocals with brain damager snare drums before so called build ups for playing between this summer's Hot Turkish hits.

So I picked this one one. Deserves a shot.

Is there anyone out there whose into house and/or funk music and didn't hear anything about deee-lite? Well, I quess you should, in case of you were hiding under a big rock in the beginning of 90s.

Let alone the fantastic outfits and dance moves in "groove is in the heart" video, what really amazing about deee-lite is their timeless music. whenever I listen to "world clique" it just sounds from last year although every single note is almost 16 years old! Well it's logical,they were fusing house, techno, rap, ambient and funk music with an outrageous visual flair largely and since all of these genres are as hot as they can be, why not?

Deee-Lite became hugely popular among New York club denizens, and the trio's own unique cultural make-up earned them a following which ignored racial and sexual boundaries. In 1990, they debuted with the album World Clique, a crossover smash thanks to hits like the loping classic "Groove Is in the Heart" (featuring the fluid bass of Bootsy Collins and the saxophone of Maceo Parker) and "Power of Love."

With their 1992 follow-up Infinity Within, Deee-Lite's music turned overtly political as songs touched base with hot topics like the environment, safe sex and democracy. Towa Towa left the group soon after; rechristened Towa Tei, he released his solo debut Future Listening in 1995. Kier and Dmitry, meanwhile, enlisted DJ Ani for 1994's Dewdrops in the Garden, a sensual outing influenced by the growing rave culture. After the release of 1996's remix album Sampladelic Relics and Dancefloor Oddities, Deee-Lite disbanded. :-(

Lady Keir still spins as a Dj and She also has a "parallel career" (a.k.a "day job") in computer graphics and designs album covers. In July 2003 Lady Kier filed a lawsuit against Sega, claiming a character in one of their video games was based on her persona and used without permission.

As well D.j'ing, Demarkus finds time to hold down two weekly residencies at Dallas' prime time nightspots the Zubar (Fridays) and at The Pharmacy (Saturdays). He also co-founded Grin Music Artist Management with his wife, Kelly and currently work together booking both veteran house dj's as well as up and coming favorites. Evet o çok şık! O, 5000 şarkıyı birden cebinizde taşıyabiliyor, üstelik o bir apple! Yüzlerce Yeni Türk Lirası verip avcunuzun içine almak için yanıp tutuşuyoruz. Peki i-pod'un piyasadaki disk'ten mp3 çalan gereçler arasında fiyat performans oranı açısından neredeyse en kötülerinden biri olduğunu biliyor muydunuz? Rüyalarınızı süsleyen i-pod'un bembeyaz kaplaması gözlerinizi kamaştırmasın. Hem kendisi hem de reklamları ile ortalığı birbirine katan i-pod'un afaki yüzü: i-pod'un birinci nesil ürünlerini kullanan müzik severler i-pod'larını çok sevdiler. Ona gözleri gibi baktılar, her yere taşıdılar, indirdiler,yüklediler, dinlediler... ve bir gün i-pod'larının pili bitti. Sanırım 4. nesil i-pod'ları halihazırda satmakta olan Apple'ın hala çözüm bulamadığı en önemli sorun değiştirilemeyen ve uzun süreli kullanımda gerçekten tükenen pil problemi. Öyle ki bazı vakalarda 6 ila 8 haftalık kullanım süresi sonrasında pil ömrümde %50'ye varan kayıplar görülebilmekte. İşin komik yanı ise apple'ın değiştirilemeyen piller kullanma ısrarını "Ürünümüzün tasarımını olumsuz yönde etkileyebilecek bir değişiklik" tezi üzerine kurması. sanki bunun gerçekten tasarımla ilgisi varmış gibi, sanki ürünün amacı uzun süre, kabul edilebilir bir kalitede müzik çalmak değilmiş gibi.. Ulaşılamaz(!) beyaz tasarımıyla sadece var olması yeterliymiş gibi...Hey Macintosh tasarımcıları! Orada birisi var mı? Hiç bir Avuç içi bilgisayarı incelemeyi düşündünüz mü? Mi mi si, La la si... Sanki dinleyebilecekmiş gibi diskoteğinizdeki 200 CD'yi bir güzel mp3 formatına dönüştürüp cillop gibi i-pod'unuza yüklediniz. Notalar o canım beyaz kulaklıklardan kulağınıza geldikçe keyiflendiniz. Sayılı gün çabucak geçti. i-pod'unuz ilk aldığınız zaman uzun saatler boyunca notaları etrafa saçarken bir sabah uyandığınızda bu sürenin artık 2 saate indiğini üzülerek öğrendiniz. Artık 3 saatlik bir yolculuk sırasında 2. saatten sonra, yüzlerce lira verdiğiniz mp3 çalarınızın ekranına bakıp içinizden mırıldanabilirsiniz. Mi mi si, la la si, sol sol la, sol sol la. Ağaçlar fidana, fidanlar ormana. i-podlar çöpe! Keza Apple pil ömrü ile ilgili hiçbir problemi garanti kapsamına almadığı için bir bardak soğuk su içip geçen sene aldığınız mp3 CD çalarınızla tekrar barışabilirsiniz. Pilleriniz sizi arkadan bıçaklamadan önce karşınıza çıkacak başka bir sorun ise ses kalitesidir. Mac OS kullanıcıları ne der bilemiyorum ama Windows kullanıcıları i-pod'tan gelen sesten çok çok daha iyisini hak ediyor diye düşünüyorum. Bugün -maalesef- neredeyse bütün taşınabilir mp3 çalarlar i-pod'tan daha iyi ses kalitesine sahipler. Apple'ın sonraki sürümlerde üzerinde en çok durması gereken sorun sanırım bu. Ses kalitesi! Bir müzik çalar alırken sanırım insanın ilk önce aklına gelen özellik. ( Hoş, Apple'daki adem oğulları tasarımın listedeki en önemli şey olduğu konusunda hala ısrarlılar.) Apple'ın ses kalitesi üzerinde çalışacağına şüphem yok, ama eminim asla Creative Zen'in ses kalitesinin yanına bile yaklaşamayacaklar. Yüzlerce dolara satılan bir ürünün (Bilkom'un Türkiyedeki tekel olması nedeniyle ülkemizde daha da pahalıya satılıyor) 60 dolara satılan Zen ile baş edememesi sizin de bir kaşınızın yukarı kalkmasına neden olmuyor mu? Bu arada fikir olarak guzel olan kontrol tekeri'nin i-pod cebinizdeyken (Başka nerde olması bekleniyor ki? ) hiçbir işe yaramaması, kullanılamıyor olmsından bahsetmiyeceğim bile. O canım(!) tasarımı değiştirmek yerine Apple i-pod çorabı denen yeni yan ürününü piyasaya sürdü bile. Renk renk çoraplar. Koyuyorsunuz i-pod'unuzu içine, gezmeye çıkıyorsunuz,bir şarkı ileri gitmek için çorabın içinden çıkarıp, tekeri çevirip tekrar çorabın içine sokuyorsunuz ve Apple'ın nasıl olup da zaten ceketinizde var olan bir cebi size 30 dolara tekrar sattığına şaşırıyorsunuz.

Gerçekten saymaktan sıkıldığım için i-pod'un pek çok farklı ses formatıyla olan uyumsuzluğundan, kendi ses formatı olan AAC'yi bile düzgün çalabilmek için bir sürü plug-in (Yama, Program Eklentisi yada her ne derseniz.) kullanmak zorunda olduğundan bahsetmeden geçmek istiyorum. Bunun yerine i-pod'un piyasadaki 70 farklı mp3 çaların her birinin desteklediği "window media player" (WMP) desteğinden mahrum olmasından bahsetmeyi tercih ederim. İşlem basittir. mp3 çalarınızı bilgisayara bağlarsınız ve WMP isterseniz otomatik olarak isterseniz çekip bırakarak istediginiz dosyayı aletinize aktarır. i-pod'a herhangi bir şey aktarabilmek için satırları arasında hala düzeltilememiş pek çok hata (Bug) bulunan i-tunes yüklemeniz gerekir. i-tunes kendini yüklemekle kalmaz. size sormadan masaüstünüze ikonlar yerleştirir. Yine size hiç sormadan bir kaç programı daha sabit diskinize yerleştirir, gizlice windows üzerinde gerekli değişiklikleri yapar. Günümüzde yazılım dünyasında size sormadan iş yapan tek program virüslerdir. Biraz ağır bir benzetme mi oldu? O zaman i-podunuzla i-tunes dışında bir yerden (Napster, MSn Music yada diğerleri) mp3 indirmeye ve yüklemeye çalışın. Bakalım neler olacak?
